Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) will be providing larger, immediate rate reductions for those who have been free of at-fault claims and convictions for 15 or more years.
The Public Utilities Board approved MPI’s application for a change in rates to be charged under the driver safety rating (DSR) system.
MPI estimates that roughly 170,000 vehicle owners will receive 30% discounts on their Autopac premiums versus the current discount of 25%, the company noted in a release.
On average, these individuals will pay approximately $Cdn50 less than under the old system, the company added.

ACE Canada has launched Premises Pollution Liability Portfolio (PPL Portfolio) designed to offer pollution coverage in a single policy.
The portfolio is intended for owners, operators and managers of a flexible mix of Canadian-based small, mid-size and large-account commercial real estate portfolios — including hospitality and multi-tenant residential properties.
It combines traditional, new and pre-existing pollution coverage, including coverages for pollution liability exposures from non-owned disposal sites, contingent transportation, fungi, legionella and off-site operations on a claims-made basis, the company notes.
