South Barrie Collision Centre raised $6,000 for the City of Barrie’s Royal Victoria Hospital through its charity car wash event.
On July 11, members of South Barrie Collision Centre washed more than 80 cars to raise the funds. The money was donated to the RVH Hospital Expansion project and the Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.
“We wanted to help raise money,” said Jamie Rogers, South Barrie’s marketing coordinator.
The estimated cost of the expansion project is $56.1 million, $15.6 million of which must be raised by communities, Rogers added.
“Knowing that the money we raised is in great need, we hope to hold more events to raise more!”

RSA now offers its customers who are renting out their vacation properties four weeks of coverage at no additional cost as part of its standard seasonal homeowners policy.
Customers have the option of purchasing coverage for longer rental periods of up to 24 weeks.
Heather Bayer, president of Cottage Link Rental Management, said many people still don’t understand the necessary insurance requirements that must be met when renting out cottages.
“A lot of people I talk to believe because their cottage is insured they are covered when renting it out as a vacation property as well, and that’s not the case,” she said.
“They think because they are just renting it to friends and family that they are secure.”
