The Number 1 benefit and driving force behind the use of risk technology is achieving accuracy and reliability of data, according to a survey of 435 risk professionals from 45 countries.
Aon eSolutions 2009 Global Risk Technology Survey shows how organizations are implementing, using and benefiting from their risk management information systems (RMIS), helping to shape and benchmark risk programs against those of their peers.
Roughly 62% of respondents said they saw savings in risk transfer costs as a result of using risk technology, according to an Aon release.
The study found the North American market has a more mature RMIS market than Europe, mostly due to amplified workers’ compensation claims and the associated data consolidation needs.
“North Americans use their RMIS for litigation management and safety, while usage of RMIS for captive management is more prevalent in Europe,” according to Aon. “Sixty-four per cent of North American respondents report using RMIS for more than five years compared with just 37% of European respondents.”

Snowmobilers in Manitoba will be able to purchase a Snopass and register their machines at a Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) agent beginning Nov. 1.
The pass, which costs Cdn$105 up to and including Dec. 15, includes a sticker that must be visible on the licence plate of the snowmobile. Revenues raised from the sale of Snopasses go directly to Snoman (Snowmobilers of Manitoba) Inc., a non-profit organization representing 51 provincial snowmobiling clubs that maintain and groom more than 12,000 km of Manitoba’s scenic trails.
Prior to Nov. 1, snowmobile owners had to make two separate transactions — one with an Autopac broker and another with a Snopass vendor.
“This integration is a positive step for Manitoba’s snowmobiling community,” said MPI president and CEO Marilyn McLaren. “It’s a one-stop shop for snowmobilers. Manitoba Public Insurance also has the support of our business partner, the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba.”
