All passenger vehicles registered in Quebec, including taxis and rentals, must be equipped with winter tires between Dec. 15 to Mar. 15, said the Société de l’assurance automobile.
Drivers can obtain a winter tire exemption certificate that will allow them to be authorized to drive without winter tires for seven days.
The criteria to obtain such an exemption include:
•    if the vehicle is used to leave or return to Quebec;
•    when acquiring the vehicle (in cases other than when the owner acquires the vehicle from a dealer) in order to have time to equip it with winter tires;
•    when putting a stored vehicle back on the road (licencing of a stored vehicle); and
•    when cancelling a lease with a duration of one year or more.
A complete list of exemption criteria can be found at: http://www.saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/

SGI and Regina Transit have partnered to offer free bus and para-transit service on New Year’s Eve.
The ‘Ding in the New Year’ program, sponsored by SGI and operated by Regina Transit, provides free bus and para-transit service to thousands of partygoers on New Year’s Eve between 7 pm and 3:15 am.
“Reducing the number of injuries and deaths caused by impaired driving is a top priority for SGI, which is why we are proud of our long-standing partnership with the City of Regina and the Ding in the New Year program,” said SGI president and CEO Andrew Cartmell.
