The Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC) Ontario chapter has launched a fundraiser with the aim to turn loose change into cancer research.
The “Change for Change” initiative kicked-off January 1, 2007, and will run through March 31.
The concept was borrowed from the British Columbia chapter of WICC, who introduced the initiative in 2005.
Interested participants can easily purchase a coin collection box for Cdn$20 online at www.wicc.ca. Complimentary shipping of your collection box to your office is being provided and sponsored by ICS Courier.
By displaying the boxes prominently in offices, co-workers can drop in their loose change.
On the 30th of each month, participants count the change collected, deposit for safekeeping and report the monthly total online in the “Change for Change” section of the WICC site.
On March 31st, participants will report their final tallies and the grand total will be announced at the 11th Annual WICC Ontario Gala Dinner in April.
Over the past 10 years the insurance industry and its associates’ donations have totaled more than Cdn$2.5 million for cancer research through WICC.
“This year, with your help, the industry can make a difference with hopes of raising over $20,000 for cancer research from the WICC Ontario “Change for Change” campaign alone. It’s never too late to participate in this exciting new fundraising challenge please order your coin collection box today,” says a statement from the organization.
