Willis Special Contingency Risks Limited (SCR) is hosting a global Web cast conference call on July 17, 2007, to educate risk managers, corporate risk officers and directors and officers about the risks of international kidnapping and extortion.
Movie and television depictions of brittle hostage negotiations and heavily armed, camouflaged rescue teams make for pulse-pounding entertainment, SCR notes in a press release. The everyday reality of being at risk of kidnap and/or extortion, however, is not a passive theatrical experience.
Whether traveling as private citizens or in the course of business, whether resident as expatriates or as in-country contractors, whatever ones status or situation people are exposed as never before and must become intimately familiar with the dimensions of such risks and the best practices that address them.
Conducted by SCR security and prevention team leader Paul Mills and consultant Chris Flint, the Web cast is intended to answer questions typically associated with the risks of kidnapping and/or extortion. They include:
Where in the world are executives most at risk?
What are the corporate exposures? Where and how are they growing?
How do you go about mapping your corporate risk profile?
What are the factors that increase the likelihood of becoming a victim?
What systems, functions and plans should your company have in its security support structure?
Do you know what to do when notified of an actual or potential incident?
Who is involved in a negotiation and how are their actions coordinated?
What constitutes due diligence in matters of incident prevention and crisis management?
Interested parties can access the Web cast and accompanying PowerPoint presentation via www.willis.com/Extras/webcasts.aspx.
The Web cast will take place at 2:30 p.m. GMT London / 9:30 a.m. ET New York.
Those who may not have access to the Internet at the time of the Web cast may choose to listen by phone by calling (800) 619-7489 (domestic) and +1 (210) 234-0001 (international) with a passcode of Willis. The leaders name is Gordon Prager.
Participants are asked to log in or call in 10 minutes prior to the Web cast in order to register for the event.
