XL Group inland marine unit to offer truck cargo coverage

XL Group plc (NYSE: XL) announced Tuesday that its inland marine division it is offering customized coverage for mid to large-sized trucking operations in North America, including errors and omissions, employee tools, accounts receivable and temperature control system breakdown.

The XL Motor Truck Cargo Coverage Solutions will include 23 coverages and 22 optional endorsements. Coverage will be provided by  XL Specialty Insurance Company (admitted) and Indian Harbor Insurance Company (nonadmitted).

Coverages include contract penalty, employee tools and work clothing, expediting expense, fire protection systems, freight charges, loss adjustment expenses, public emergency service charges, reimbursement for returning stolen property, shippers control of damaged goods, and errors and omissions.

XL’s Motor Truck Cargo product will also cover property supporting the business, including accounts receivable, equipment used to service covered property, computer equipment and media, valuable papers and records and office furniture and supplies. It will also cover moving equipment, such as covers, dollies, forklifts, hand trucks, lift trucks, pads and pallets.

The optional endorsements will include contingent coverage for freight forwarders and brokers, destination market value, employee theft, cargo rust and corrosion protection and temperature control system breakdown.

“As a result of investigating available policies and listening to what our brokers and insureds suggested, the result is a comprehensive form to help deliver a customized solution for our clients’ specific needs,” stated Anne Marie Elder, chief inland marine underwriting officer of XL Group’s North America marine group, in a press release.
