Encon Group Inc. is changing its brand name to Victor Canada, the managing general agent announced Monday.

Ottawa-based Encon, whose coverages include professional liability for architects and engineers and builders’ risk, is part of Victor Insurance Holdings, the managing general underwriting business of New York City-based Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc.

Monday’s announcement follows the 2018 rebrand of The Schinnerer Group to Victor Insurance Holdings.

ENCON Group Inc.

Encon also has offices in Edmonton and Mississauga, Ont.

For Marsh & McLennan, the managing general underwriting business is a “critical growth area,” said John Drzik, president of Marsh global risk and digital, this past June in a release announcing the appointment of  Brian Hanuschak as president of Victor North America.

“By combining our business under a single brand and leveraging our data, technology and capital capabilities across Victor, we will be even better positioned to offer innovative solutions to agents, brokers, insureds, and carriers,” David Cook, President of Victor Canada, said Monday in a release.

In Canada, Victor recently launched a broker portal for select lines of business, Cook told Canadian Underwriter this past August. With the portal, brokers can enter application information and in fact bind and issue those policies, Cook said at the time.

“We are looking to expand our offerings in that area in the future in Canada.”
