The Standard Insurance Brokers Ltd. intends to acquire Canada Brokerlink’s northwestern Ontario offices in Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake and Dryden’s Skillen-Squire, as per a letter of intent.
The acquisition is subject to certain conditions and the terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, according to a press release.
With the acquisition, The Standard an insurance broker in northwestern Ontario that represents insurance companies such as ING, The Economical, Wawanesa and Aviva will increase its market share in the area by approximately 50%.
“Growth has always been an important part of Standard’s long-term strategy,” Brian Ingo, CEO of The Standard Insurance Brokers, said in the release. “Over the years, we have extended our reach in northwestern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. This acquisition will be a major milestone for our organization and will enable us to better serve our customers.”

McLarens Canada has opened an office serving Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes.
Christina G. Welton has been appointed branch manager of the new office location. She has more than 30 years of experience as an all-lines adjuster.
McLarens Canada has expanded over the past year, adding 13 new locations. The company says it remains focused on strategic expansion plans throughout 2008.
