The Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation (PACICC) recently elected Kevin McNeil as chair of the board of directors. McNeil is president and CEO of the Gore Mutual Insurance Company and a board member of Gore Mutual Insurance Company, Gore Mutual Foundation, Consumers Council of Canada, the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and executive vice-chair of the Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation. He is past Chair of the Regulatory and Financial Affairs Committees of the IBC.

The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) has appointed Randy Carroll as its chief operating officer. Carroll begins directing daily operations at IBAO after three years with the association. Prior to joining the IBAO Carroll served 18 years as a RIBO licensed broker in the property and casualty business and spent three years volunteering as president of the London Insurance Brokers Association.

Charles Lawrence, president and COO of CNA Canada recently announced the appointments of Susan Murphy to vice president, distribution and marketing and Gail Stroschein to assistant vice president, branch manager, Vancouver. After more than six years with CNA, Murphy will continue to develop the Company’s positioning within the Canadian marketplace while focusing on the ongoing development of distribution partnerships, market growth and retention opportunities. Stroschein brings more than six years with the company to her new role, in which she will be responsible for maximizing underwriting profitability and increasing CNA’s market share throughout the region.

Crawford & Company international operations, has appointed Glenn Gibson as the next chairman of Crawford’s Global Technical Services (GTS) advisory board. Gibson has served on the advisory board since its inception and now assumes the role of chairman from Mike Reeves who will concentrate on the group’s Corporate Multinational Risks (CMR) unit. Gibson will remain CEO of Crawford Adjusters Canada. Gibson, a executive general adjuster, brings more than 30 years of industry experience boasting designations such as , chartered loss adjuster, certified fraud examiner, certified fire and explosives investigator and the chairman of the board of governors for the Insurance Institute of Canada.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the General Insurance OmbudService (GIO) has appointed Glenn Williamson as the first executive director of GIO. Having developed complaints handling protocol and reporting mechanisms and serving as Ombudsman liaison officer for various insurance companies, Williamson brings a background in industry best practices on consumer-complaint handling. Williamson has also served as regional vice-president, Ontario for Optimum Frontier Insurance Company, underwriting manager for General Insurance Company of Royal Bank of Canada, branch operations/projects, Ontario and Western Canada, for General Accident Assurance Co.; and operations superintendent for State Farm Insurance.

Aviva Canada is the first corporate sponsor of Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID). This core financing, donated by Aviva, will allow OSAID to fund the employment of a full-time staff to run the provincial office that manages 5,000 volunteers and 300 OSAID chapters in Ontario. In addition to the financial sponsorship, Aviva will sit on the board and offer advisory services.
