The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) are doing their part to build safer communities. The IBC recently launched a program to honor “disaster-prepared” communities, while the ICLR unveiled the country’s first “disaster-resistant” home, both as part of National Emergency Preparedness Week.

Industrial Alliance Auto and Home Insurance celebrated its 30th anniversary in May. The Quebec City-based company has also received the “Coup de coeur – Emploi Quebec” and was a finalist in the Fideides “Company of the Year” award this year.

S.J. Kernaghan Adjusters Ltd. celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Founded in Winnipeg, MB, it became the first privately-owned adjusting firm to spread across the entire country. Now, with a head office in Vancouver, the firm is led by founder Stan Kernaghan’s daughter, Patti. The company’s philosophy remains “knowledge and integrity produces excellence”.
