The worst wildfire to hit Colorado has now been fully contained, according to the Associated Press and a report from a U.S. federal incident management team.

The 29-square-mile Waldo Canyon Fire started on June 23 and was completely encircled July 10, but not before it killed two people and destroyed 347 houses in northwest Colorado Springs.

More than 34,000 people were forced to evacuate in late June.

The High Park Fire near Fort Collins, Colorado, which began June 9 and was the state’s second largest blaze on record, encompassed 136 square miles and destroyed 257 homes. It is also fully contained.

Early estimates of damage from Colorado’s wildfire season were put at $320 million, according to the Rock Mountain Insurance Information Association (RMIIA). That figure includes damage from hail, wind and flooding that affected parts of Colorado in June.

Final figures from the 2012 Colorado wildfire season are not yet available. The 2010 Fourmile Canyon wildfire destroyed 169 homes in Colorado. Insured losses from that blaze reached $217 million.
