The Financial Services Commission of Ontario has posted two consumer warnings of insurance-related scams in the province.

An individual known as Kimberly or Gelisa Watson is not licensed to do insurance business in Ontario, FSCO said in a statement on its website on Thursday.

“This individual appears to be selling auto insurance while not being licensed with The Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) or FSCO as a general agent,” the statement noted.

“It appears that a fraudulent liability slip was issued by the individual showing Buckley Insurance Brokers Ltd. as the broker, and The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company as the insurer. The individual has been communicating via text messaging or over the phone.

“It should be noted that Kimberly or Gelisa Watson is not affiliated or associated with The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company, an insurance company that is licensed by FSCO, and Buckley Insurance Brokers Ltd, a broker that is registered with RIBO.”

Also Thursday, FSCO warned that an individual known as Renato (Nico) Nolvis is not licensed to do insurance business in the province. That person appears to be selling false auto insurance, according to FSCO.

“On April 10, 2014, Mr. Nolvis of Mississauga was charged with three counts of fraud under $5,000 uttering a forged document and making a false document,” the regulator added. “He also appeared in a Newmarket court on June 12, 2014.”
