Kernaghan Adjusters has been forced to double its staff on Vancouver Island in order to keep pace with the claims generated by the recent string of storms that battered the region.
Since the first of November, Kernaghan has doubled its staff on the Island and opened an office in Campbell River, a press release says.
Additionally, adjusters from other branches have been recruited to assist the Vancouver Island team with the storm claims.
Dale Rogoza, Kernaghan’s Vancouver Island branch manager, was recently quoted in the Victoria Times Colonist comparing the storm season to a battlefield.
“Extreme rain and snow followed by severe winds sent trees crashing through houses and snapping power lines it was a war zone out there.”
With the series of storms starting in early November, Rogoza described the season as the busiest since the blizzard of 1996.
Navigating through hazardous conditions of flood waters, snow, severe winds and tree-strewn roads to inspect damage posed challenges, he added.
Vancouver’s branch manager, Cathy Daniels, was also quoted as saying that the lower mainland has been hit with over 14 significant storms since the beginning of November.
“Our team of adjusters are on the road 24/7 as we continue to service the needs of our clients, despite the harsh weather demands,” Daniels said.
The IBC estimated claims at Cdn$80 million for this part of the province, according to a Kernaghan release.
