Marsh, a global insurance broking business, is consolidating its business into two geographic divisions: U.S./Canada and International.
“Simplifying the current structure will enable Marsh to reduce complexity and improve efficiencies within the organization,” said Marsh CEO Daniel S. Glaser, who joined the firm last month.
The company announced the changes to its global organizational structure in tandem with a number of senior management appointments.
Joseph M. McSweeny, most recently of Willis Group Holdings, has joined Marsh and will serve as president of Marsh’s revamped U.S./Canada Division.
McSweeny, who worked at Marsh from 1976-1994, has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.
His most recent position in the industry was with Willis Group Holdings, where he was chairman of Willis Risk Solutions, the major accounts practice in North America, from 2001 to 2004.
Previously, McSweeny served as chief executive of Willis International Holdings in London.
Alexander Moczarski, currently CEO of Marsh’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, has been named president of Marsh’s new International Division. He will relocate to New York from London.
Other Marsh executive appointments include:
Alexander W. (Sandy) Vietor, who joined Marsh in December, will serve as president of Marsh’s Global Specialties.
Timothy J. Mahoney will lead the enhanced Global Risk Management (GRM) unit, into which the industry practices will now report.
Henry S. Allen continues to lead the Global Consumer Division as president.
