Aon Corp. (NYSE: AOC) has reached a definitive agreement to sell Aon Warranty Group (AWG) and its worldwide operations to Onex Partners. Among the AWG businesses to be sold to Onex, an affiliate of Toronto-based Onex Corp., is Virginia Surety Company. The acquisition is subject to conditions including the receipt of required regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Friends and business colleagues of Art Despard are invited to attend a small gathering in his remembrance and in recognition of his many contributions to the insurance industry. The gathering will be held on Tuesday August 15, 2006 from 5:30pm to 8 pm at Big Daddy’s Crab Shack, which is located at 212 King Street West in Toronto. Depending on number of guests, a $20 donation per person may be requested. The Dress will be casual but “outlandish ties are definitely encouraged.” In order to create a photo-collection display of Art Despard, anyone with photos of him or any memorabilia, send them to, or contact, Maude Dassylva, at Elliott Special Risks, prior to the event.
