Genworth Financial Canada has named a Grade 6 student from Edmonton the winner of its national writing contest, “Habitat for Humanity Meaning of Home.”
Marissa Nahirney was selected as the top contestant from more than 1,900 entries a Genworth release says.
A Cdn$5,000 grant, sponsored by Genworth Financial Canada, will be dedicated to the Calgary affiliate of Habitat for Humanity in Nahirney’s name.
The recipient family attended a ceremony at the current build site of Sheftel Court in Calgary when Nahirney’s story was read aloud, and the cheque was presented.

The capacity of the Lloyd’s of London insurance market has reduced in 2008 to 15.95 billion (approx Cdn$31.2 billion), representing a decrease of 0.9% on 2007 opening capacity of 16.1 billion (approx Cdn$31.5 billion), a Lloyd’s statement says.
The impact of the U.S. hurricane season resulted in increases in both 2006 and 2007, the statement continues, “although 2008 has seen a slight reduction as markets soften.”
The statement also notes that no single capital provider provides more than 7% of the market’s total capacity.
