30 Forensic Engineering, Canada’s leading and fully-independent multi-disciplinary forensics firm, is pleased to announce the following senior level appointments across our property and casualty groups.

Dwight Francis B.Sc., ME, PMP
Practice Lead, Fire & Electrical

Dwight Francis is an electrical systems and materials specialist, and the Practice Lead with the Electrical and Fire Investigations Group at 30 Forensic Engineering. With over 30 years of experience as an electrical engineer and Master Electrician, Dwight has investigated claims involving electrical infrastructure loss, primarily due to fire, flood, and installation deficiencies. He has consulted on and managed electrical fire alarm system remediation projects for multi-tenanted residential buildings, and commercial and industrial installations. Dwight has also provided expert witness testimony regarding the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and related laws.

Terrence Holder B.Eng., M.A.Sc., BSSO, P.Eng
Practice Lead, Civil Structural Failure

Terrence Holder is the Practice Lead with the Civil/Structural Group at 30 Forensic Engineering. During his time with the firm, Terrence has been engaged in hundreds of forensic investigations. His expertise includes building sciences, concrete durability, and the evaluation of building structures. Terrence’s wealth of experience in building condition assessments has been vital to establishing the condition of building envelopes, interior finishes, and structural and exterior architectural building features. Terrence has over 17 years of experience in the new construction, rehabilitation of concrete structures and forensic engineering industries.  Terrence is also qualified as an expert witness in the Ontario Court of Justice for matters related to concrete.

Tom Pepper B.Eng., P.Eng
Practice Lead, Building & Fire Code

Tom Pepper is the Practice Lead (Property Claims) of 30 Forensic Engineering’s Civil/Structural Group, Building & Fire Code Group. Tom’s background in electrical and civil/structural engineering along with significant hands-on construction experience enables him to distill complex engineering, construction, building and fire code matters into plain language and practical solutions. His diverse experience, which spans construction project management, building design, building inspection and forensic engineering, has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of Canadian Building and Fire Codes and their applications to establish himself as one of the leading code experts in the country.

Mrinmoy Kanungo M.E.Sc., P.Eng
Practice Lead, Geotechnical

Mrinmoy Kanungo is the Practice Lead of the Geotechnical and Mining Group at 30 Forensic Engineering. Mrinmoy has 10 years of geotechnical engineering consulting experience in both traditional design consulting and forensic investigations involving foundations, slopes, earth embankments, retaining walls, excavation support systems, tunnels, trenchless technology installations, pavements, utility lines, etc. With 30, Mrinmoy has led many multidisciplinary forensic investigations and peer review work related to insurance and legal claims, spanning across a wide range of residential, commercial and industrial business sectors within the Americas. Clients have come to rely on Mrinmoy’s attention to details, critical thinking ability and strong communication skills to assist in complex claims involving subsurface and earthwork design and construction. Besides his consulting work, Mrinmoy actively presents and publishes at technical conferences and in trade magazines, and collaborates in research projects with the academia.

Chad Gooyers B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.
Senior Associate, Biomechanics & Personal Injury

Dr. Chad Gooyers is a Senior Associate at 30 Forensic Engineering, specializing in the biomechanical assessment of injury causation. He has been published in some of the top biomechanics journals and has taught undergraduate courses in biomechanics at the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto. Dr. Gooyers has conducted hundreds of technical investigations involving motor vehicle collisions, seatbelt effectiveness, helmet effectiveness, slips, trips and falls and occupational injury. Dr. Gooyers currently holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor appointment at the University of Waterloo and serves as a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Toronto. He remains active in research, participating in ongoing projects and graduate student thesis committees focused on injury biomechanics.
